Uninvited Guests (The Public Phone Booth Number - Part 5)

Disclaimer : I'm a huge KPop fan and you will come across names and photographs of KPop idols in most of my stories (The photographs and pics are downloaded from the internet and I do not have ANY intellectual property right over them). They are my muse and inspiration in so many ways. The incidents and characters are fictional and have no resemblance to any K pop idol in any manner.

As I ran up the flight of stairs to the flat, the uneasy feeling was back. I slowed down and made my way up soundlessly. The famous instincts at work!

I unlocked the door and tiptoed inside, pulling out my pistol( I always carry it with me), ready to shoot. Nothing seemed out of place and yet.....

There was no one inside. I checked and double checked, moving around like a sniper in my own house. I switched on my laptop to go through the cctv footage. A person was lying writhing outside in the balcony. I ran towards the living room and opened the door to the balcony. He was still there, not wriggling around any more. Must be the electric wire on the railing which I had recently installed for increased security (they deserve a five star review!!).

I immediately called up my team at the HQ. As I waited for them, I felt someone watching me. I looked around but couldn’t see anyone. But I heard heavy breathing and a faint but distinct sound of a gun clicking. I ducked in time as 3 bullets in succession whooshed past my head and hit the wall behind me. Three bullets fired, three left. I knew the shooter’s hiding place now and fired 3 shots straight at him. The gruelling night training had paid off. A body slumped down on the balcony floor and I walked towards it, pistol still aimed at the assailant. I turned it over for a better look at the face. A young boy I recall seeing at ‘The Nightingale’ a few times. I checked his wounds. I had shot him in the leg once and the other 2 shots hit the wall . He had passed out of shock! He was breathing but unconscious.

My phone buzzed and I heard Namjoon's voice," Where's the party,Sir?”

Me- The balcony.

In 2 minutes, Namjoon and the entire team assembled (he knows my password) on the balcony. While a paramedic examined the assailants, Namjoon went through their pockets and retrieved two cellphones. Both were alive. Just unconscious. They were taken to the nearest hospital in the police van while I went through the rest of the cctv footage. I guess the men had just about made it to the balcony when one of them got an electric shock while the other one hid when he heard me opening the balcony door.

The camera overlooking my front door showed the assailants trying to open the digital lock with keys! 😂 😂 This was hillarious!!! Wait!!! If they tried the front door first, their fingerprints would be there too! I quickly wore a pair of gloves and ran out. I peeled off the sticky plastic cover off the door handle. Well, call me crazy or whatever, but I cover all door handles and knobs so that the valuable fingerprints aren’t lost!😎😏 Besides, my friends and family know there’s a password and no other key can unlock this door!

So, I carefully bag the fingerprints in a ziplock bag( another thing I always carry in my pockets, along with gloves!). Dr Kim can analyse this tomorrow.

I finally finish watching the footage and go to bed.

(To be continued....)
