Trail of the Tinted Tresses

Yes, you guessed it right! This one is dedicated to my (once-upon-a-time-used-to-be) luscious locks... A friend suggested I write about it(thanks Minzie 💜)

I've never really been bothered by the quality or quantity or the texture of my hair. Nor was I interested in spending time or money or effort for my hair. As far back as I can recall, I always had short hair. The longest I ever had till my second pregnancy was a shoulder length blunt/U cut.

When my second child was born, I was in a hill Station, unable to go out to the salon regularly, so I decided to grow my hair a bit.

All I did was tie it up so I could do my chores in peace! My hair actually got better and healthier .But it didn't last long!

We moved to the city and within months, harsh summer heat, air pollution and hard water ruined my hair completely. I went back to my utilitarian short hairstyles! Perks of being in a city is availability of good salons!! So I was back to my favorite short Bob cut.

Being a homemaker and a stay-at-home-mom I had no time for anything except my growing kids and chores!

It was finally in 2014 December that I decided I need a change- a big change! The hairstylist gave me an asymmetrical long Bob and colored my hair a beautiful burgundy( which was in Vogue then).

After that, in June 2018, I got my hair colored a vibrant chestnut which glowed almost orange in sunlight! The same hairstylist, who I have known and trusted for more than 7 years now!!

In Jan 2019, I lost my dad and, more or less, my will to live... However, my immediate family and BTS were instrumental in bringing me back from the abyss. In about 6-8 months, I reluctantly started socializing a bit. I also started writing and blogging.

Daddy's passing taught me valuable lessons. I had only 1 life and it was time to FOCUS ON MYSELF for a change. I distanced myself from negativity and embraced positivity. I decided to go in for a

drastic makeover this time!

Feb 2020, I colored my hair a vibrant red! Shocking, bright and you-can't-miss-it RED!

Oh, right from the moment I stepped out of the salon, I enjoyed the jaw dropping expressions! It really boosted my confidence and made me feel like a brand new ME!

Since then, I have colored my hair blonde, blue, purple, fire(mix of orange, red, pink, blue, green), Galaxy( purple, blue, pink).

More or less, I have tried all available colours and their combinations!

Everywhere I go, heads turn. Opinions are a dime a dozen. Some appreciate, some envy and some mock. I don't really care because I don't colour my hair to attract attention. I color my hair because it makes me happy!

Someone loves retail therapy, while make-up might cheer up another. Someone loves playing or dancing away their blues while music or cooking make others happy. To each his own....

So, for me it's my tinted tresses, in myriad hues of nature, that really work as instant serotonin or mood booster! This joyful journey will continue as will the adventure with colours, till I have even 1 hair on my head! And if I lose my hair? Well, what are wigs for!!!!!
