Hannah was quite nervous. Well, anybody would be in her shoes! She can't imagine anyone feeling any differently or not being nervous in this situation.

Since her childhood days, Hannah was known and appreciated by everyone for her intelligence and confidence. She was not a cute or pretty child, but she was cheerful and well mannered. She was good at studies and topped her class. She shone in co-curricular activities like singing, dancing, creative writing and elocution. Hannah loved writing and she maintained a daily diary. She had written poems which were even published in local newspapers and her school magazine. Basically, she grew up hearing others praising her parents for raising such a good and talented child.

But today, all her confidence seemed to have vanished! It's impossible to fight 'perfection'!!! Standing in front of the mirror, Hannah was evaluating her appearance. She was a complete nerd and her glasses proved it! Small round face, bright green eyes and a stubborn little chin (just like her dad!), short hair, slim and barely 5 feet off the ground!

Sometimes Hannah wondered how Andrew even noticed her! He towered over her at 6 feet, was athletic and pleasant with an awesome sense of humour! Hannah's friends loved Andrew! He also wore glasses and was a complete nerd, a geek! That was the only thing they had in common at first glance.

Insecure about Andrew's popularity among the girls and his good looks, Hannah would frequently be visited by the green eyed monster, followed by Andrew's attempts to cheer her up. He called her 'dynamite' or 'bombshell' because she had 'blown him away' the moment he saw her! Well, Andrew could be embarrassingly dramatic!

Hannah smiled as she remembered some of Andrew's really pathetic jokes and that cheered her up a bit. The phone rang and Hannah jumped out of her skin! It was Andrew.

Hannah- Ah, think of the devil....

Andrew- Really? You were thinking about me? Now I can die in peace!

Hannah could picture his ear-to-ear grin at his cheesy reply! What a drama queen he is!

Andrew- Hannah, you know I love you, right? So, please don't be scared or nervous! Just be yourself... Be confident and pleasant as you always are! You don't have to please or impress anyone!

Hannah sighed. She silently looked at her reflection and wondered for the 1000th time....'Why? Why me? What does he see in me anyway?'

Andrew- Hannah, babe.... Please don't do this to yourself... Do you want me to see you right away? Do you need a hug? Or a kiss? A morale boosting speech?

Hannah- Andrew, I have never been so nervous in my life... I feel as if I'm going for a cross examination in a murder trial! Tell me again, why is it that you love me? I'm nothing like.....

Andrew- Ok,that's enough! I'm coming right now! You will have a nervous breakdown at this rate!

In 10 minutes, Andrew reached Hannah's flat. He hugged her and felt her shaking.... He had never seen her like this! Never! Was this really so intimidating for her? Look at her! She's all nerves! His super confident girlfriend who holds her own and stands out in a crowd, despite her petite built, is trembling at the mere thought of this lunch date! Maybe he should cancel it....

Andrew- Babe, if you aren't ready, we can cancel it.... Have it later....

Hannah- But.... I would still have to do it, right? Whether it's today or tomorrow or day after.... I can't escape it.... Oh I wish daddy was here to tell me what to do!

Andrew- Hannah, let's call it off! I can't see you like this.... Do you want me to be there?

Hannah shook her head and said," No! No way!"

Andrew raised an eyebrow and asked," Why not?"

Hannah- Because, I have to do this myself...

Andrew watched Hannah checking out her clothes, hair and makeup for the umpteenth time and finally said," Sweetheart, you don't have to pretend to be someone you aren't! You don't need any makeup! You are perfect the way you are! That's why I love you...."

Hannah was visibly uncomfortable with the make up, which her roommate had helped her with. She sighed and went to wash the make up off. She took her time as she washed away her fears and insecurities.

Hannah was smiling when she came back into the room. Andrew watched her as she put some lipgloss on her lips and combed her short sassy bob into shape. Finally, she put on her favourite perfume and took her bag.

Hannah- I'm ready!

Andrew- That's my girl! Come I'll drop you at the Cafe. Don't forget to call me!

Hannah- You would know the result before I do!

Andrew- Well, that's true.... But I have to know how it went from your perspective....

Hannah- I'm still nervous but not that much! Thank you for the pep talk! Will call you later....

Hannah hugged Andrew and watched him drive away. With a sigh, she walked inside the Cafe, bracing herself for what's to come! She thought aloud," OK, Hannah, you can do this! Fighting! "

There was still time.... Andrew's mother was punctual and Hannah was 15 minutes early. She stood up as she saw the graceful, well dressed lady smiling at her, walking towards her table. As the older lady engulfed her in a warm embrace, Hannah thought it was a wonderful start to their lunch date!
