Cadburys advertisements have always been my favourite! And their tag line - kuchh meetha ho jaye is literally my life summed up!!!
No kidding! I have this love for Mithai that only a sweet lover can understand. In fact I always believed (and still do) that there's a separate 'dessert pocket' inside my stomach!đŹ
I'm okay with chocolates, kulfi, icecream, cakes, puddings. But I'm totally crazy for Mithai!!! While I might refuse the former sweets, I'd never refuse a Mithai!!!!
It's mandatory to have something sweet after meals, as far as I'm concerned. There's no two ways about it! If there's Mithai at home, nothing like it! If not, chocolate will do. If no chocolates or icecream or pudding, I'd happily chew on some misri, or a mouthful of raisins or even dates! Just need something sweet đ
As a child I loved the puddings( Indian or western cuisine) made in the Mess parties- Bombay toast/ Shahi Tukda, Bread Pudding, Tipsy pudding, Gulabjamun, Halwa, Soufflé, etc etc. I still don't miss out on any opportunity to have them even now!
There are two kinds of shops which have my complete attention in the market- book shop and sweet shop!đŹ
I just have to taste everything I can before buying because I have to ensure its fresh, right?đđ
I may have been a picky eater as a child but my love for sweets can't be doubted. And I never discriminate! No matter what the colour of mithai is- White, yellow, pink, orange, blue , black- I will give it a try. As long as it's Mithai, I'm not going to miss trying it!
Indian cuisine is as colourful and varied as its people. In the multi religious , multicultural, multilingual, multiracial melting pot called India, food habits differ from state to state.
Being a fauji brat meant I had an opportunity to sample a variety of cuisines. Some of my favourite Indian desserts are Gulabjamun, Barfi( any Barfi),Laddoos, Jalebi, Halwa( Sooji/ atta/ gajar/moong), Bengali sweets( all of them are yummilicious, can't choose), Modaks from Maharashtra, all Assamese sweets (obviously), Ghevar from Rajasthan, Payasam from Kerala, etc etc etc. The mere mention of these sweets is making my mouth water!!!
Though I'm neither a foodie nor an exceptional cook, I love baking. Cakes, mostly. Haven't tried making many puddings, except Trifles or Parfait.
My first stop at the hotel buffets is generally the dessert corner. Yup! The baked sweets and puddings, alongwith our Indian sweets are simply irresistible! I can totally bypass the main course rather than not sample every sweet on display!
Well, my love for sweet things will only be understood by another sweet lover! No matter how many candies, chocolates and icecreams tempt me with their attractive packaging and variety of flavours, one look at the humble Barfi is enough!
As for my sweet tooth, tea without sugar is just 'sad' ! Even my preference for alcoholic beverages is for the 'sweeter' wines and liqueurs and not the bitter or the sour drinks! No way would I let anything make my life bitter or sour, right?
Here's to happy endings with some 'sweet' memories and to 'sweet dreams ' every night!
I identify n how!!!:):).
Ejoyed the 'sweet' article n the insanely 'delicious' collages more. Cheers indeed to all the sweetness life has to offer
